Protocols with Eq. Eptamed

Three in-depth courses on the method, each with its own minimum requirement for equipment, duration, and recommended cost for the patient.

Functional Therapy with the Eptamed Device

The protocol calls for the use of four Eq. Eptamed devices, which can be customized to meet the patient's specific needs.

To optimize results, speed up recovery, and enhance the effectiveness of treatment, you can incorporate Special Equipment, specifically designed for clinical cases that require targeted functional support.

Monitoring the Long-Term Use of the Eptamed Equation

The appearance of the Eptamed device changes over time depending on the frequency of use and the patient’s adherence to proper hygiene practices. Observing its surface characteristics provides valuable assistance to the clinician in assessing the patient’s adherence to the prescribed regimen.

Proper use is defined as when the patient wears the Eptamed device for at least 8 hours at night, for at least 1 hour during the day in passive mode, and performs at least 15 minutes of active exercises daily.

The Eq. Eptamed is designed to highlight gradual changes that reflect its actual level of use. In fact, after about 3 months, you may begin to notice the first signs of wear on the Eq. Eptamed. At 6 months, wear becomes more evident, and the Eq. Eptamed must be replaced.

LOW USAGE

MONTH 3

MONTH 6

With minimal use, Eptamed remains virtually unchanged, retaining its transparency and showing no obvious signs of wear or discoloration.

MODERATE USE

MONTH 3

MONTH 6

With moderate use, a slight dulling of the surface and the first signs of wear become apparent.

OPTIMAL USE

MONTH 3

MONTH 6

Optimal use results in more widespread opacity, accompanied by initial yellowing and the presence of surface deposits.

In cases of heavy and continuous use, the device shows significant yellowing, noticeable cloudiness, and signs of wear, along with a buildup of saliva and residue.

Distance Between Palatal Cuspids — Measurement Chart

UNIVERSAL SEQUENCE (continued from page 8)

The sequence takes into account:

  • only the distance between the palatal cusps of teeth 14 and 24

In pediatric patients, treatment begins with the Starter appliance (lingual NIKI), and the treatment sequence is then determined based on the patient's age.

In Class I and II patients aged 14 years and older with a palatal cusp distance of ≥ 26 mm, in addition to the Starter appliance (lingual NIKI), Universal appliances are always used as the 1st and 2nd equity appliances, and Series I - Semiline (SL) Series devices as the third and fourth equators.

For Class III patients aged 7 years and older, when measuring the distance between palatal cusps 14–24, in addition to the Starter appliance (lingual NIKI), it is recommended to use a sequence consisting primarily of Series III - Prognathus (3) appliances with the -S code (example: 3.3-S neutral).

MANUAL CHANGES: As per the change protocol

Narrow Arch

Rounded Arch

Square Arch

INTERMEDIATE SEQUENCE (from page 14)

The sequence takes into account:

  • the distance between the palatal cusps of teeth 14 and 24
  • the shape of the arch in its final stage (narrow, rounded, or square)
  • the dental class and the type of malocclusion (deep bite, open bite, overjet)

For pediatric patients, the universal protocol is followed, but more adjustments are made to the Eq.

In Class I patients, in addition to the Starter appliance (nasal or lingual NIKI), the Universal appliance is always used as the first appliance. The selection of the second, third, and fourth appliances is based on the distance between the palatal cusps and the shape of the arch.

In Class II patients, in addition to the Starter appliance (nasal or lingual NIKI), the Universal appliance is always used as the first expansion appliance. The selection of the second and third expansion appliances is based on the distance between the palatal cusps and the type of malocclusion. The selection of the fourth appliance is based on the distance between the palatal cusps and the shape of the dental arch.

For Class III patients, the standard protocol is followed, but the lower anchor is modified as shown in the illustration.

ADVANCED SEQUENCE (starting on page 20 — support available via the Eptamed Pro app)

The sequence takes into account:

  • the distance between the palatal cusps of teeth 14 and 24
  • the shape of the arch in the early stages (narrow, rounded, or square)
  • the dental class and the type of malocclusion (deep bite, open bite, overjet)
  • the shape of the skull in the final stage (dolichocephalic, mesofacial, brachycephalic)
  • Both NIKI Starter devices (nasal and lingual) are used
  • You can use the E-Fit and Aligner devices
  • highly individualized adjustments for the patient
